In these times tolerant of same gender-relationships, it is now finally possible for gay people to look into gay engagement rings. Gay people around the world are celebrating about the lift on the ban on gay marriage in California because it meant that the other states would follow suit soon enough.

Even with the controversy surrounding gay marriage and the implications it imposes to society, they should still be given the opportunity to pick out engagement rings and enjoy the tradition of marriage and engagement. After all, they're still entitled to show their love for each other somehow.

Engagement rings aren't that different whether you have a gay or a straight couple. It's just that sometimes the gay couple would tend to add certain elements to the ring to
make them unique.

The traditional diamond stone and the gold or silver band are still used for these types of engagement rings. Others want to stand out, so they engrave rainbows, rainbow flags or other gay symbols into band of the ring to set them apart. Others engrave words inside the band, which isn't uncommon for straight couples as well. These days, these kinds of rings are readily available and can easily be customized.

Right now, gay marriage still isn't 100% legal in the US, so other couples resort to getting married civilly at the city hall or by a judge. They profess their love for each other in front of a few witnesses and a judge, and the deal is done really quickly. Even then, they will still need rings to serve as a symbol of the institution of togetherness that the couple will share together.
