Engagement rings for men are slowly gaining popularity. As compared to women's engagement rings with high diamond settings, their rings are subtler and understated to accommodate their every day activities. Some women would have these rings engraved on the undersurface with initials, date, a phrase, or any meaningful symbol.

There are some however who would opt to have embellishments, those that have a more elaborate and intricate design than the common men's ring. One is having a two-tone design wherein it was made with a combination of metals, usually yellow gold and white gold. Textured ring is another option. These have engraving on the surface that will form lattices or some distinct pattern. Using titanium is a popular choice because aside from its strength and durability,
it can be customized to have a certain hue such as blue, purple, or other colors.

Diamonds are a girl's best friend but a number of men's engagement rings have been successfully released with one or a number of diamonds. Unlike women's rings where there is a center stone as the focal point, men's rings have diamonds that are either channel set into a band or arranged on an edge of a square ring.

An alternative to using diamonds is colored gemstones. A good choice is incorporating birthstones of the couple. However, pearl is not advised for use in men's rings because of it is less durable and more difficult to channel set.

In terms of prices, men's rings are at par with women's. The greater weight of the metal in men's rings compensates for the lesser value of stones as compared to women's rings.
