Who doesn’t like diamond jewellery? It is a symbol of love, romance, eternity and absolute purity. Diamond is the hardest of all materials used in jewellery making and is therefore very durable and long lasting. Its ability to reflect light brilliantly is what makes it so endearing and valuable. Jewellery items that make use of genuine and pure diamonds are very expensive and precious.
Naturally occurring diamond is found in many colors ranging from yellow to black. Its translucent white color is also admired by onlookers and jewellery makers all over the world. Pure diamond is mostly brown in color but impurities make the color slightly different and sometimes even produce a mixture of colors.
Commercially used diamond occurs in two distinct categories: gem-grade diamond and industrial-grade diamond. Wholesale diamonds are
not very widely available in the gemstone category. There are only a few locations worldwide where brilliant-cut diamonds are available for use in jewellery items such as rings and necklaces.
An alternative to pure diamonds is known as diamante. This material looks exactly like real diamond but lacks the physical and chemical properties as exhibited by genuine diamonds. Many designers now make use of this material in their jewellery items to make them less expensive and affordable for a lot of people out there.
A simple diamond ring can be bought starting at a minimum of $2000. Bracelets and necklaces that contain one or multiple real diamonds cost even more. Unlike gold, the resale value of diamonds is not determined by its weight or other parameters. It is more feasible to retain diamond earrings, rings and other items in their original shape and form rather than having them replaced.
