Gold jewellery is precious, expensive and beautiful. It requires extra care and cleaning on our part to retain its longevity and exquisiteness. Since we pay a lot of money when buying pure gold and diamond jewellery, we should take care of it by keeping it in a safe place and cleaning it regularly.
One way to care for your gold earrings, rings and bracelets is to take them off before going in the shower. This is particularly important if you are going for swimming. The chlorine which is present in swimming pools to keep them clean will eat away your gold or corrode it in a matter of minutes. So, it’s very important to take off all your jewellery items before jumping into a swimming pool.
Similarly, if you have to do household chores on a regular basis, like cleaning
and dusting, do not wear your gold rings and bracelets while working. This is because when gold comes in contact with the chemicals found in detergents and other cleaning agents, the surface gets rough and scratchy.
Other than the above mentioned precautions you should also clean your gold earrings, rings and other items regularly. This can be done by using a cleaning solution available on the market especially for the purpose of cleaning jewellery items. Do not wash your jewellery directly under water. Take a soft cloth, wet it and rub it gently over all items individually.
Another point to remember is to store all your jewellery items in dry and clean storage places. The best option is a velvet-lined jewellery box or any other box which has a fabric lining. Do not put your jewellery items in a glass or metallic box.
