When you talk about bridal fashion, it includes Indian wedding jewellery. Building a gold wardrobe, so to speak, is like building a clothes wardrobe. You have to think of the versatility of the pieces together with their comfort. A useful tip is having classic pieces then going up the scale towards the extravagant ones. There are also detachable pieces that can enhance the classic chains. You can start with a classic chain, a pendant, bracelet, and a pair of jhumki earrings. Also, widen your collection with varying finishes—shiny, matte, and mixed finishes.

In caring for jewellery, it is best to store them in a dry place in soft cloth pouches, plastic ziplock bags, or soft cloth wraps. You should flatten chains to avoid the links getting twisted. To keep your jewellery from getting scratches, even if gold is
a strong metal, do not stack them on top of each other without any protective sheet in between them. Contrary to popular ways, do not use toothpaste to clean jewellery. There are many commercial cleaners in the market for this purpose and using a soft cloth to polish them will maintain their luster and shine.

When traveling, protect your jewellery by placing them in your hand-carry and not in your checked-in luggage. If leaving the hotel premises, deposit them at the front desk for safekeeping. If you can do away without wearing them, then do not more so in places you are not familiar with. Also, remove all pieces of jewellery when swimming in chlorine-treated or high-temperature water as it can damage and discolor them.

As well as your other possessions, jewellery, are assets. They are investments and you should maintain them in excellent condition at all times.
