Peoples jewellery surely do last a lifetime. Traditionally, they become heirlooms that are passed from generation to generation, symbolizing kinship, prosperity, and love. With this precious inheritance, it is no wonder that family members would strive to become closer together and cultivate good and loving relationship among them.
Diamonds, pearls, gems, and rubies – these are stones that would last even longer when kept and preserved with utmost care and dedication. It is therefore very important, that once you have acquired jewellery, you must know how to clean them the right away. It is not enough that you dust them or wipe them for any blemishes; special things like jewellery need special care.
First, it is not a good idea that you wash them with harsh soap. Different stones
and metals demand different cleaning ways. There are chemical solutions in the market that are easy to use, but do not use them right away if you’re not sure if they indeed do the job. Consult any professional, or the shop that you bought the jewellery, for tips on chemical substances that would retain the glint and brilliance of the gemstones and metals.
Second, always keep them away from moisture and chlorine. Chlorine discolors or taints any jewellery and moisture would rust the metals, especially those which are alloys with iron. Jewellery boxes are very good in achieving this purpose; you can buy one in a reasonable price.
Lastly, do not wear your jewellery in the pool or when you go to swimming. Water would destroy your jewellery faster than anything else would. Do not take any chances in maintaining the beauty of your stones.
