Peoples jewellery is always charming and dazzling. Jewelries are more than just expressions of our innate ability to distinguish beauty from among the myriad of things that we see and encounter each day. They are also expressions of social status, the love to preserve and put meanings on them, and the penchant in giving out gifts to our loved ones.
Jewelries are always given as a status symbol. Kings, queens, and members of the royal families for ages have surrounded themselves with precious, rare metals and brilliance of diamonds and gems. Coincidentally, they are also the most important people in a country that has a monarchy as a form of government; in fact, people who have moved in the ranks of social positions and economic ladder would also do the same thing. They invest in jewelries whose monetary value continues to
rise in the far future. That’s why jewelries are expressions of the capacity to buy things, that we have gone far in the rat race and are winning it, and that we have been successful in life so far.
Jewelries are also symbolizing the love to continually see them beautiful and clean. Only humans see gems and pearls as something worth preserving and treasured; no other specie in animal kingdom does the same thing. This means that in buying jewellery, we often introduce our personal meaning in them; love of a husband or a wife, the gift of a parent to a child, a present from a dear friend, etc. We romanticize meaningless objects, stones and metals, into something worth keeping.
And lastly, we often see jewellery as a gift from loved ones. This means that somebody has remembered us, and will always be there for us no matter what circumstances or distance will be.
