Karen Walker jewellery is known for its signature pieces and its unique creations that tickle the interest and sense of humor. But they are not the only ones offering these beautiful pieces, as there are a lot of jewellers out there that offer symbolic charms. And these bracelets never go out of style. They may come and go, but what fashion item does not? They always return and target a different market—the children, the teens, the working class, even the mothers—depending on the charms.
A charm bracelet is basically a piece of jewellery, a chain worn around the wrist. What makes it special and unique are the charms—much like pendants and trinkets—attached to it.
It started out as a form of amulet—that is, to ward of the evil spirits and all other
elements that people believe bring bad luck. It was noted that Queen Victoria wore charm bracelets that caused a wave in the fashion of the European noble classes. During the World War II, soldiers brought home trinkets from where they battled to give their loved ones. In the 50s and 60s, teenagers collected charms that symbolize the hallmarks in their lives.
There was a moment in the past that interest in this jewellery waned, affecting the production naturally. But there came a point after the millennium that people started getting interested again in charm bracelets. Now there are collectors who seek out vintage charms or iconic ones representing a hit movie or play. For instance, with the debut of the movie Pirates of the Caribbean, the demand leaned strongly towards bracelets that have swords, crosses, and skulls as charms.
