In times of recession or in times of financial difficulty are plastic engagement rings a good idea? I’d say it would take a very brave man to propose with plastic. Although decorative they are generally used for engagement parties for decorative purposes. They are also used in bridal shower parties and worn by the bachelorette and other guests. These rings are purely worn for fun.
If finances are tight and you had hoped to pop the big question you may wish to consider a low grade diamond engagement ring as opposed to ever offering a plastic engagement ring. Plastic represents cheap and girls don’t do cheap as a lifetime commitment. If you offer this ring in your proposal you better back it up after the laugh is over with a proper engagement ring. I suppose it takes all sorts of people in this world and if plastic does it for you so be it but I can only
offer my advice as part of the majority population.
Plastic engagement rings are extremely cheap and are often sold in packs for parties. Most are hardened plastic and available from online stores or convenience stores that specialize in party packs etc. Of course they come in a vast array of bright and wonderful colors and look great at the party.
You could offer a plastic engagement ring to your partner when proposing for the following reasons.
1) If you are unsure your partner will say yes, but if the answer is yes you have the real thing in waiting
2) You agreed a date for engagement and the ring is not ready
3) You know your partner will say yes but are unsure of what ring she will want and would prefer for her to choose the following day.
Apart from those particular reasons I really wouldn’t brave it in asking for a girls hand in marriage with a plastic engagement ring.
