The Jewellery Industry in India

The jewellery industry in India is very much centred on jewellery that is worn for the Indian marriages. The traditional jewellery industry in India is actually what makes the Indian wedding very unique and rich in culture. There are a lot of exclusive designs, which have a traditional look to them. The traditional jewellery that is made of gold tends to be passed on from generation to generation and this means that the jewels tend to stay in families for a very long time and in most families this can be decades. The different types of jewellery include bracelets, armlets, bangles, necklaces, earrings, nose rings, toes rings and pendants.

There are a lot of different areas of India and they all have their different cultures and different unique designs which all collaborate to make the jewellery industry in India. The southern part of India is known for its temple based designs and the northern part of India is known for its carved designs. The western part of India is known for its stone and mirror works and the eastern part of India is known for its beaded designs. There are a vast number of trends, which are inspired by the Middle East, and most of these designs are unique.

The Indian culture views a set of two toe rings as a symbol of a girl who is married. Both of the toe rings are very often made of silver and these rings are sometimes decorated with studs made from various coloured stones. There are also a lot of different types of nose rings that are worn by a vast number of women from many different cultures. In the northern culture the nose rings that some women wear are bigger than the bangles that they wear. The larger nose rings are a symbol of the wealth of the husband.
