Elizabeth Taylor Wedding Ring - Rings Reaching Their Peaks

Elizabeth Taylor is a well-known actress of the 1950s and 60s. Apart from this the word that brings her into minds of all people is her wedding rings. Elizabeth and Richard Burton married and divorced each other twice. Richard Burton was her fifth husband. The first Elizabeth Taylor wedding ring was 69.42 carat Asscher cut Krupp diamond in 1968. It was presented by Richard Burton on their first marriage. During that age it was meant to be the costliest ring available.

Elizabeth Taylor wedding ring is famous even now. The Taylor-Burton diamond is a 33.19 carat emerald-cut Krupp diamond. Cartier from New York purchased this diamond at a public sale in 1969 and named it "Cartier." The next day Richard Burton purchased the diamond for Elizabeth Taylor. He renamed it the "Taylor-Burton”. In 1978, Elizabeth Taylor put the Elizabeth Taylor wedding ring up for sale. Potential buyers had to give $2,500 per head to view the diamond to cover up the costs of viewing it. As a final point, in June of 1979, the diamond was sold for nearly $3 million.

The auctioneer started the bidding from $200,000. When the auctioneer asked the crowd whether they are ready to purchase it, the crowd shouted yes. This shows the value that people around the world give to that ring. This ring is said to be the talk for the years and will be remain in hearts of the people for longtime. When reporters asked Richard Burton that why he spent that much money on ring, he replied that he actually wanted to purchase Taj Mahal but it will cost more transport charges. Even when Elizabeth Taylor saw the ring she was fully exited. This shows that people are ready to spend any amount for expressing their love on their dear ones.
